Please find below details of how our Governing body is structured, including the names, categories, responsibilities and terms of appointment for each Governor.
Our School Governors
The remit of the governing board:
It is stated in the Governance Handbook that all boards, no matter what type of schools or how many schools they govern, have three core functions:
• Ensuring clarity of vision, ethos and strategic direction;
• Holding executive leaders to account for the educational performance of the organisation and its pupils, and the performance management of staff; and
• Overseeing the financial performance of the organisation and making sure its money is well spent.
The Governors work through a series of committees for the following areas of responsibility;
Curriculum, Standards and Staffing Committee – Alison Blair (Chair), Sue Gilchrist, Tina Douglas and Katie Burrow
Premises, Safety and Finance Committee – Mark Blackburn (Chair), Romola Acland, Jane Sharrock, Julie Huck, Ali Jama
The constitution of the governing board is as follows:
1 x Headteacher
2 x Parents
1 x LA
1 x Staff
7 x Foundation
Term of office for all governors is 4 years.
Appointing Bodies as follows:
• Parent governors – elected parent/carers of registered pupils at the school
• Staff governors – elected by all members of staff in the employ of the school
• LA governor – technically it is the governing board that is the appointing body (via a LA nomination)
• Foundation governors – appointed by the Diocese
