Courageous Advocacy
Courageous Advocacy
Proverbs 31:8-9
“Speak up for those who cannot speak for themselves, for the rights of all who are destitute. Speak up and judge fairly; defend the rights of the poor and needy.”
At St Oswald’s we want to encourage children to use their voices to enact change in the local, national and global community.
St Oswalds CE Primary School's Christian vision and values inspires the whole school community to engage in social action and to be courageous advocates for change.
To have a secure understanding of what courageous advocacy is, we think it is important for all the children to look at courageous advocates across the globe, both past and present, that have faced injustice and overcome barriers in order to help others for the greater good.
After learning about their Courageous Advocates the children then came up with their own Social Action Project.
Social Action Projects are something you could do in order to address an issue or concern in their community for example volunteering, litter picking, writing letters or educating people.
